Biography
 |
Robert Lassalvy
was a vry secretive and private man. He was anxious
worried but also profoundly human.
This is certainly both his qualities and his facults
as a person, and his talent as an artist such as his
deep sense of observation and imagination which enabled
him to portray life and people in his own creative way.
Robert Lassalvy was born in Cournonterral
in 1932 (Hérault / France). After graduating
from graphic arts school in Paris, where he studied
for 4 years, he went on to dedicate himself to cartoons.
A dedication that will take up to 50 years of his life.
In 1953, he married Odette with whom he had two children,
Dominique and Christophe. She will be the woman of his
life and will be very supportive of him throughout his
entire artistic journey; from the early stage of his
career until success begins to shape up.
A french press card holder (n°14304), Lassalvy is
well known in France and abroad; he was published in
Germany, Denmark, Brazil, Bulgaria, Yougoslavia, Spain,
England and in Japan where above one of his drawing
shown on the front page of a newspaper one could read
: "Lassalvy, c'est la vie."
A few months before his passing on March 31st 2001,
he was promoted to the rank of "Chevalier des arts
et des lettres" by the french ministry of culture.
